Finally getting ready to order the Trijicon 3x9 I've been waiting on.   It's going on a flat top AR (LWRC M6A2) and I'll be removing the BUIS.  I want to get the scope lower than is "standard" for an AR, as the variation in POI at close range vs long range is just too much, and by that I mean the high scope mounts put POI too low at super close ranges for my preference.

Because of the nature of this project it's super hard to search and find all the options.

All measurements are "bottom of scope to top of rail." Brownells chart lists minimum for a 40mm objective to rail to be 0.287"  So far I have....

Trijicon:
TR100 0.32"
TR101 0.7"
TR 105 + TR111 (a 30mm setup that needs reducer for 1") 0.55"

Leupold: (doesn't list these values on their site, PITA)
Medium 0.340"
Super High 0.900"

Other vendors I check seem to be all 30mm...

I'm coming from a very high 1.00" measurement and need to come down a noticeable amount, but not so low it's unusable / I'm totally bringing the gun up too high.  So go figure I feel about a half inch reduction is right (1.00 - 0.50" = 0.50") and the only setup there is the Trijicon with the spacer, which I don't know if I'm excited about.

Thoughts? Other options?

1" tube diameter, Picatanny mount, about 0.50" height as defined above, aluminum construction preferable.  One piece wouldn't bother me but I don't think any are made that low, quick release or permanent mount are both options at this point....

In my experience 1.3 to 1.5 center line is what is needed to allow the proper cheek weld with an AR.  Irons are 1.4 I believe.  With .5 I am not sure you could get a cheek weld and be able to see through the scope properly as that is pretty low.

That is one of the down sides to ARs for sure.

I assume that spec is to center of scope vs bottom of scope tube?  My measurements are based on the bottom of scope tube which makes my 0.5 less drastic, but yes that's the line I'm trying to ride :)

Well, just to document this for future users and searches, I measured, measured again, run the numbers with a buddy, and ordered the Seekins Medium High (0.92") for a 30mm tube and used Trijicon TR111 (TR-111) spacers for the 1" Trijicon.

Two problems arose - the objective is just precisly on the edge of touching the rail, depending on how you wiggle the setup.  I wasn't willing to tighten things down to find out 100%, as sometimes I could see a thousandth or two line of light, and sometimes not, and I'm not interested in tweaking the scope.  So the objective is too close, and the caps certainly won't fit.

Also it wouldn't hurt to have the thing just a bit higher for access to charge handle better.

The cheekweld / exit pupil setup didn't seem to be a problem, but sadly the other two issues are.

The next higher size from Seekins is 0.97", but that's not going to be enough for scope caps to be certain, and I'm not sure it'd be enough really to guarantee objective clearance either.

Interestingly, contrary to the table on his website, he does list a size between 0.92 and "AR High" 1.45", with an X-High (XHigh) at 1.25".  This will give me enough to clear scope caps and easily clear the objective with zero concerns.

It's only about 1/4" lower than "way-too-AR-High," but it looks to be the best I can do.  Will post pics when the new sizes show up and everything is properly mounted and I'm happy with it LOL.
