Getting prepared for next deer season with a new scope on my Savage .270.  I most likely will have a 3-9x40 scope and am looking at what rings will be the best in a mid price range.  The gun has the factory weaver bases on it now. Should I get weaver type rings, or the dual dovetail turn in  type or the DNZ on piece mounts?  TIA

I am working on a Savage 110 build right now, and elected to go with an EGW rail and TPS HRT rings.  The rail is nice, because it is much more flexibile with scope placement regarding eye relief, which is really important with the extra-long base spacing on Savage long actions.

I had a 20 moa EPW rail on my 257 Roberts and didn't like how high the scope ended up being as it is a Savage LA straight combed sporter barreled rifle.  I replaced it with Talley 1 Piece Lows (Leica 2.5-10 x 42).  Much slicker for a hunting rig.

Savage 308 has a #5 Contour, 0 moa TPS rail with a SS 10HD x 42 on it with low ARC Rings.  Fits and looks nice.  That rifle has a Savage Tiger Shark Laminate stock with a high comb and a tactical bolt knob and clearance at the occular end is good.

Son's Savage 308 has the factory bases with a set of Burris standard rings (lows I think) with a Minox 3-9x40.  B&C stock with a straight comb, factory sporter barrel.

223 Predator Hunter has the same set up as the sons 308 with a Tasco Titan 1.5-6x42.

The Mark II 22 has a bull barrel same setup as above two but is too close with a Nikon Monarch 6x42.  It fits, but the Butler Creek is too tight of a fit to use on this one.  This one wears a Mako Shark Stock the little brother to my 308.

I am fairly certain I used lows but there is a remote possibility they were mediums.  The Talley one piece are for sure lows and fit real nice.

I would go with the Talley One Piece rings if it was me.

That would be them. I have them on several of my setups. I love them and have never had an issue with them.
