Just purchased a Savage 10FCP HS Precision and a Super Sniper 10x42 30mm Optics for it. I had a hard enough time making the scope selection ! Now looking for a little help with the rings and a base ? Any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.

Infantry bullets are adressed To whom it may concern. For Snipers it's a bit more personal. Our bullets have their name & know whether or not they kissed their spouse before they died.- A Special D.I.

I put a Farrell one-piece base and Warne QD rings on my Savage 12BVSS w/SS10x42. Couldn't be happier.

I would go with any one-piece Picatinny base from Badger, Farrell, TPS, Warne, etc, as long as it had around 20 minutes of forward cant built into it. Your Super Sniper won't need it to go long range, but it will allow any other scope you may put on it later to reach way out there without running out of internal turret elevation adjustment.
It won't affect close range zeroing ability to have it, either.

Warne makes very good stuff, according to many well-respected posters on this site. I've never used them and from what I understand, some of the rings they make are just a wee bit tricky to assemble, but work great otherwise.
My next set of rings will probably be Warnes, so I can find out firsthand!

I concur.
I just got my beloved Super Sniper back from a good friend and OT member, "Duce". Jim wanted to fool with my SS and I was interested in checking out his Millet TRS.
He sent his Millet and another scope off to me and I sent him my SS in Badger low rings and told him to set the scope anyway he wanted and I would adjust it when it came back.
He goes and mounts my SS on his rifle, dialed it in, shot some killer groups and had a ball. He sends me back my SS/Badger combo and I mounted the scope right back on my Badger rail and go to the range to zero it back again.
Loaded Black Betty up and shot a round to see where it would hit. BULLSEYE!!
I shot a 5 shot group @ 100 yards and blew the center out of the target. Looked at the turrets and noticed that they were right back to my original zero's for both W and E.
I later talked to "Duce" and he told me he just kept track of my original zero's when he was finished and set them back where they were. (I failed to keep track of Jim's original zero's because, well, I'm a thoughtless p#*!k)
Let's review....
Dismounted off my rifle, SS in Badger rings sent across country via Fed Ex and the goons that work there, mounted back up on another rifle, dialed in for Jim's set up, taken off, reset my original zeros, resent back across country, mounted back up and the POA and POI was unchanged. I have a set of Badger steel Ultra High Rings on a Bushmaster AR. The thing that is amazing about them is how well-machined and finished they are. That and how heavy and expensive they are!
The quality is unsurpassed, though.

Savage Shooter web page---they like a milled one piece aluminum base/ring---Ded Nutz. It is worth a look.

I am planning to get this SS10X scope for a .22 target rifle (OK, stop laughing) and I think this example says just as much about the scope as it does about the rings and base.
The SS10X was recommended to me by a contractor who has the old Tasco version on his Winchester 700 and could not stop raving about how good that scope was. let's face it: in the desert these days, equipment is not getting the most delicate treatment...
Once again my decision to go with this scope is reinforced. Will I use this scope on my .308 rifle (what ever that ends up being- but I'm leaning toward the Savage 12 F/TR)? Perhaps. I am smitten with the IOR and Schmidt & Bender offerings, with IOR having (in my opinion at least) the best overall "bang for the buck" as of my research so far. Heck, I may just go for the 16X version of the SS on the .308 and switch back and forth as conditions dictate...
Anyway, it is good to hear more good stuff about this scope!
regarding the rings, I was leaning toward the B_Square "Sport Utility" rings (for the .22 anyway). Does anyone have them? Love them? hate them? I'm still trying to determine which dovetail they fit...

I'd recommend the 10x, rear focus SS, Jim.
Nothing wrong with the 16x for plain ol target shooting, but your FOV starts going south and most people find the 10x ideal.
I'm pretty sure the 10x will suit ya and if not, you can sell it for what you paid for it on this or any gun board, and replace it with a 16x.
Never used the B Square stuff, sorry.

Oh, I'm getting the 10X, don't think I'm not.
The 16X might be going onto the .308; assuming I don't go with some variable I like... No rush for that; I have to sell off some other rifles to make room and generate capital for the .308. |

Oh, I forgot to mention- "Plain old target shooting" is what the .308 is for (same as the .22). A variable (up to 20X as the upper magnification) may be the hot ticket for the .308. Something like the ball-park of 10-20X. I have not been looking actively at this point since I don't have that cash in hand at this moment. |
