My bdl 270 in a hogue with full alumimun bedding thing in it and scope weighs 9+.

My SPS 700 AAC-SD doesn't weigh that much. If it had the full bedding block like my 270 I could probably deal with it. I really just would like a stock that looks like a tranditional one, but fitted for the larger diameter barrel. I do not like a fat pistol grip, which is one of the things I don't like about the hogue.

So.... that may put me into a Magpul hunter stock. I looked at one, it was pretty light.

Spend a little extra and get a Manners or Mcmillan.  They are so much better than anything factory it is not even funny.  Worth every penny IMO.

Got mine in January.  http://www.opticstalk.com/my-new-stock-gun-porn_topic43868.html

At the time I needed it right away.  The lady said the pro varmint was the only one they had for the Ruger American, but had others that should be available soon.  I actually want a blue one...

I'm enjoying it, so far.  A little tame for my blood, but that 8 round group was about as fast as I could cycle the bolt, not quite, but nearly.  Now, if I could do 50 rounds inside 1MOA at 300 yards, I'd be impressed.  I don't think that skinny little barrel will stand up to it, though.  Overall, I'd buy it again.
I've been considering, when I burn this one out, getting a carbon fiber barrel for it.  I'd have to get the stock modified, though (I think).

I just discovered Stockys now has a couple American stocks that has an aluminum bedding V block in it.  It actually looks very nice.  It is a lot more money than a Boyds, but looks like another good option.

That is step compared to the same stock for a Remington 700.

I ended up getting a Boyds at one for my AAC. Can't wait for it to get here. I am gonna have it pillar and glass bedded.
