guys i realize this is not nearly on topic but please bare with me thisi s the onyl place i have found to contain more than a hand full of sako trg owners pretty much can anyone explain thisi keep hearing reports that sako trg 22-42's going for 2300? wow what a deal my shop wants 2800 for it even in the trg 22 .308 not the 338 lapua magnum i would rather save some cash... what i dont understand it that the shop by my house was selling the trg 42 for 2800 and they want the same price for the trg 22 in the .308 what confuses me is that even in the msrp there is a 400 dollar price difference between the trg 42 and 22 it just doesn;t add up for some reason... keep in mind this is without any accesories

It all depends on how much a dealer needs to markup from their cost. The guy selling at the lower price might actually be enjoying a higher profit margin than the store by your house. For example, someone can run a gun store out of their house (no overhead) with as an FFL and really only do business over the internet. They also don't have to have anything tied up in inventory, essentially when you order a gun they have you pay for it up front, they then order it from their distributor and ship it to you. They are also probably on a P.O. system with suppliers that allows them to hold onto the money for 30-90 days, during which time they work that money and make more off of it. The store down the road from you has a real physical location, with employee payrolls and light bills, and inventory, etc. His overhead is forcing him to charge more and actually make less profit then the first scenerio. There are a number of ways to explain the difference in price, another is that the cheaper store might be a master dealer and their upfront cost is less, or the store by your house may not have any local competition and he charges whatever he wants.
