Went to town yesturday for some doctor appointments with the wife and also had a chance to swing in some gun stores to look for a late B/Day present for myself.  Found one of these at a large chain store of all places on clearance for $299 with $40 of any purchase of a firearm over $200.   Walked out with the gun and a box of ammo for right at $300.  They are going for over $380 all over the internet so I'm happy as I can be.  I dont' have rings for it yet but plan on putting a viper 6.5-20x44 on it.  Love the way it balances.    Looks just like this -

I had the same gun , but in 17hmr,  be careful with magazines.  Something crazy with the lips on them. Sometimes you will open the bolt and and all the rounds will all just fly out of the gun(I have got the same report from a few others with  savage 17 and 22mag. Otherwise a very nice gun.  Good luck! shoot the barrel out of it.

Good catch Bud. One reason I was looking for that particular gun. It handles really nice. I've got to get a few more boxes of ammo as I only picked up one right now. I ended up putting a Japanese bushnell on it last night. I'll try to get photos tonight.

Ya Whacko
Me and my siblings all chipped in an bought the ol man one for his birthday an had the same problem! We tweaked the clip with a pair of needle nose an it has been alot better but still acts up every once in awhile! I love savage but they can be sloppy sometimes!

Pretty stock an I bet you can hold it very steady! Nice snag
Dont take yourself to seriously

Just got around to posting pictures.  Love the gun.  Still tinkering with scopes, this older bushnell is just a place holder.  Thinking about options still.

I have a Savage 93 BTVS 22 WMR rifle with the gray laminate stock. This rifle is extremely accurate and shoots dimes at 100 yards. You say you paid @$300 for it? That was a STEAL!!
