I want to get my mounting squared away for my upcoming gun.  I would like to keep the rings as clean looking as possible.  Don't need anything "tactical" but obviously want it to say put.  To start with I am just mounting one of the $99 Vortex "specials" on it
I have been looking at these

Talley Lightweight Aluminum 1 Talley Lightweight Aluminum 1" Scopemount
Stock # - 940725
  • Savage Model 12 New Round Action
  • Matte
  • Medium
  • 1"
$42.95
Add Talley Lightweight Aluminum 1 Scopemount to Cart
Buds got them and likes them on his gun which is identical and them being the Talley name has some merit too.
Anyone have any other suggestions I should look at before i get them?

Leupolds are good stuff no doubt about it. When it comes to firearms and accessories I'm just not one to put esthetics ahead of simplicity as long as it works FOR ME.  I just like the idea of a 1pc instead of 2pc scope mounting system.

I am leaning towards teh Talley for that very reason E.  Simple and its still clean looking but i like the one piece mounting the best.

EGW 0moa base with the burris XTR low rings have the bases on 2 of my Savages with these rings and they give a nice clean look. On other Savages I have Burris 2 piece XTR base and the SS low rings again nice clean look. On my SS Savage I put the Leupold silver base and their rings with a silver scope I think it looks pretty nice.

SVT I didn't forget you, wife had the camera at work. She said she will bring it home at noon hour, so I should get your pic up shortly after.
PS is there an easier way to post than photobucket?

SVT as you can see this is Leupolds one piece silver base with their silver rings, the scope is a Mueller 8.5-25, and it is all mounted on a model 12 Savage SS, 26" fluted barrel(factory) in a Shark laminated thumbhole factory stock, if I remember right the stocks were from 2006 special run (heavy as hell).I bought the stock from Numrichs in Feb., bought the action and barrel in March and the scope and mounts&bases from SWFA in April.
Still playing with loads but as of now it is shooting right at .3@100. I am fooling with 2 other builds at the same time the 260 rem has been improving every time out as of right now I have it at .75@100 and tomorrow hope to see that cut in half.
