Building rifle in .260 with #6 Douglas barrel 22" long, fluted, Rem. short action, Nighforce 2pc. bases, TPS rings, H.S. police sniper stock. Will be used for deer, coyote and other varmints at up to 3-400 yds. Would prefer an illuminated reticle. Wt. of rifle is 8.5 lbs. Would like to keep wt. of scoped rifle less than 10.5 lbs. Narrowed choices of scope down to the following: Burris EuroDiamond- 3-12x50 with #4 illuminated reticle - 30 mm tube. Meopta 3-12x56 with 4C-illuminated dot - 30 mm tube. Nikon Monarch Gold 2.5-10 x 50 or 56- #4 reticle - 30 mm tube. Nikon Monarch UCC 6.5-20x44 illuminated nikoplex- 1in. tube Help me make a decision, all of these scopes I know are good, I just need some peer pressure. |

I would pick the the Nikon Monarch because it is the only 1" tube and it has the smallest objective on your list. For the ranges and use of your rifle there is no benefit to using a 30mm tube. Large objectives and scopes do more bad then good for most people.

the nikon monarch 6.5-20 would be my choice to, because varmints really look small out at that range. cory |

Hey Rick, I agree with ranburr on the one inch tube. Just out of curiosity, where will you be using this sniper rig?
