The Conquest is really going to limit your elevation travel on the knob. And its BDC reticle is SFP, which is not good in my opinion. It will have marginally better glass than 3-15, but they are damn close in that regard.
The 5-20 will beat both in all aspects of glass, but especially color rendition, and being able to find a difficult target in the shadows. The 5-20 is just a smidge below the really expensive Alpha's, and about even with the Vortex Razor 5-20.

If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

Is there any way to pick up these scopes for a bit less (sales, discounts, group buys, etc...)? I'm watching the sample list but I doubt one will pop up or that I would have a very good chance of getting it before it's gone.
I'd really like the 5-20 but it amazes me that it' double the price of the 3-15. Is it that much better?

different glass, different design… the price difference is no surprise. YOU would have to determine if it is "that much better" based upon your requirements. Having had "hands on with both" I can tell you that for the price, the 3-15 is an honest to goodness, really for real VALUE. The 5-20 can compete with all but the ELITE of the ELITE scopes and for the price differential there, you REALLY have to want the name or have some feature that is your "pet rock" that the SS does not have. Value and toughness have LONG been the trademarks of the SWFA SS scopes and it is almost impossible to get the same "bang for the buck" elsewhere.
The 3-15 and 5-20 serve two completely different "missions", have to meet different requirements for full utility. It is very difficult, VERY difficult to try to compare them… In the 3-15 game, no, the 5-20 is not twice as good… but in the 5-20 game, the 3-15 cannot really compete.

no one has mentioned the bushnell elite tactical 2.5-16x42. It's one i've thought about for it's wide range in magnification. Thoughts?

I finally scored big time and picked up the non-illuminated SS 5-20x50 off the Sample List. I saved a couple hundred bucks so I'm very pleased. I think I'll have a great time at Front Sight with this scope.
Here's a big Thank You to all of you who responded to my post with advice. You guys ROCK!
