I'm building up a Remington 700 AAC in 300 Blackout. The AAC has a 16.5 heavy barrel with the 5R rifling, X Mark Pro trigger, and a Hogue over molded stock. I have a Nikon P223 3 - 9 scope scope on it now, but I am going to upgrade the scope to one with more magnification.

I took the rifle out to the range with some Remington 125 grain JHP green box supersonic to see how it shoots. I zeroed it at 100 yards, and have been consistently grouping 5 shot groups of .75 to 1.00 inch for the first 100 rounds. All shooting was from a sandbag rest.

I moved out to 200 yards, and I am grouping 1.50 to 2.00 inch 5 shot groups. I also was consistently hitting a pig plate (24 x 36) at 550 yards - maybe 5 inch groups.

550 yards is probably the most I'll ever shoot with this build. I'm a target shooter, not a hunter. I'm interested in the best accuracy I can get.

I just installed an MDT LSS aluminum chassis, a Badger Ordinance Tactical Bolt Handle, and I ordered a Timney Calvin Elite trigger this morning.

I can do better with a scope that has higher magnification. I'm looking to spend somewhere around $300.

I'm looking at an SWFA Super Sniper 16 x 42 Tactical Scope.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Please don't suggest anything more expensive - I'm already at my budget limit for now.

Thanks.

In your price range the fixed SS is your best option.  if it were me, I would get the 10 or 12x.  16x is a lot for closer ranges.

Agree w/ ST here,  the SS will stand up to the turret turning you'll need to be doing.  However I don't' feel 16X is to much for a strictly target gun like  you say it is.
