I have two 22LR rifles that I need to find optics for. This will be used entirely for paper punching and target shooting.
The first setup is a magnum research MLR-1722 like this:
What would you use? What would cost the least and still give good performance. High magnification. It's a nice gun I got for a good price so I want a nice scope that isn;t ridiculous in price.
The other is a Ruger 10/22 with a tactical solution x-ring SB-X barrel. Muzzle length shortened to 12" to use with my silencer.
I'd like a red-dot for this but the same rules apply. A point where good performance meets a price that is not outrageous. Inexpensive but not needing an upgrade any time in teh future.
I have a lot of used scopes on my other rifles but haven't ran across anything yet.

Whats your price range? One mans good price is another mans dream scope.... narrow it down a little for us.

I hate to give a price range because if I say $1000, then I will get all responses with $1000 scopes.
We'll say this:
Magnum Research: < $250 but if something that's $100 is as good as something that $250, I want the $100.
Reddot: $150 or less.
Thanks for any input

For the red dot, i will have to say the only one i can think of is the Vortex Strikefire. I haven't ran it on a gun yet but plan to next weekend and will have a review up if you wanna check it out then.
For the scope, the Vortex Vipers on sale are a tremendous buy. This one in particular might work great

Thank you for the response. I don;t really like the Target Dot reticle on the rifle scope. Not a deal breaker but I'd prefer just teh crosshair with no single dot. Mil dot would be nice or just a standard crosshair. Nice price, i will consdier this.
What size dot does the reddot have?

I'm running a vortex viper 2x7x32 on my S&W MP15-22. No, it's not high magnification, but the viper line is sweet and I'm more than happy with the one I got. Vortex also has a no BS, 100% warranty should you ever have a problem.
If you look around, you can find them with different reticles - plain reticle, BDC etc.
I went with the Dead Hold BDC for my .22. Once I figured out the dots, and drops for my rifle with the ammo my gun likes, it worked out like a dream.
