Been looking for a scope and there is just too much information and the salemen can't answer my questions. I've been looking at the Bullet Drop Compensator reticle but like the adjustments on the side better (50 yds. 100 yds. to infinity) Is this called a bullet drop compensator as well? What is this adjustment called when it is at the end of the scope such as the Nikon Monarch?
What is it referring to when they speak of adjustible objective. Do I want a hunting scope for a deer rifle such as a .308 with an adjustible objective lense or not?
Do I want a scope with a Parallex or not?
The rifle has been bought for hunting deer 300 to 400 yds. but want to shoot a TIGHT group at the range and not just hit a paper plate, etc.
What do you suggest?
I have been looking at the Nikon buckmaster 4.5 x 14.

Parallax has to do with focusing the scope for a specific range, an adjustable objective, side focus, or rear focus are on some scopes so that the shooter can precisely adjust it. Those without adjustable parallax have it fixed for a specific range. (i.e. riflescopes typically have it set at 100yds, shotgun/rimfire scopes at 50yds, and airgun scope are usually adjustable but thost that aren't will be around 10yds)
A bullet drop compensator is something that leupold offers on some of there mark 4 LR/T and MR/T. All it does is help you when you are adjusting your scope for a certain range, so you don't have to think as much. Some companies make reticles that have little hash marks below the horizontal crosshair that help make hold-overs more accurate. I would recommend not getting a nikon buckmaster, any burris Fullfield II would far exceed it in optical clarity and features. ^^-It's a link |

Also look at the Burris Signature Select or the Bushnell Elite 4200. These two scopes could be found at great prices and are a best buy in my opinion. |
