I just purchased a ton of scopes (clearance, clearance, clearance) at my local sporting goods store...
I picked up a NIB, Bausch and Laumb 1.5x4.5x44 Elite 3000. I paid less than $100 for it... Can anyone tell me anything about this scope, how old is it? Did I get a good deal? Would it be a good scope for a shotgun/muzzleloader, Centerfire, or rimfire? Anyone have experience with it? I know it original was priced $320, so is it actually better than the Bushnell 3200 elites? Any info is appreciated.
I also picked up a Zeiss Conquest... So far I am very impressed by it. I love the recticle, I find it very easy to "pick-up". |

The current Elite started life as a Bausch & Lomb Elite 3000. Bushnell paid B&L to use their name because they did not think they could market high end and low end scopes successfully under one name. The license agreement ran out a few years ago and they started calling them Bushnell Elites. The only difference between the 3000 and 3200 is the Rainguard coatings. There are a few B&L 3200 floating around too, very rare.
The $320.00 price tag is probably the reason this store still had one on the shelf. You paid about what it is worth. We sold them new in the 90s for about $150. It would make a fine scope for any of the selections you mention. I don't think it is a 44mm though. |
