Hi guys,
Im new to the site and I am currently upgrading my rifle scopes.  Primarily deer/groundhog hunting.  I wanna be at least 12 power with a max of 16.  I wanna be under 1000 dollars per scope.  I am upgrading from Nikon Monarch, Pentax Lightseeker, Burris Black Diamond/Euro Diamond (Just to name a few).  I know these are decent scopes, but still wanna upgrade.  Here are my thoughts. Oh and I do like 44 mm obj or larger.

1.  Zeiss conquest 4.5-14/ hd5
2.  Monarch x (maybe a lil over 1000)
3.  Swaro z3/z5 (Maybe demo, or find a deal under 1000)

Thoughts on Weaver tactical, swfa, elite 6500, and sightron sIII

Of those you have listed, the SWFA SS line is a clear value... good glass, superior reliability and overall "toughness", excellent adjustment range, quality products.  For the dollars invested, you really won't come close with anything else.
The elite 6500 is a good scope, but I cannot comment on anything other than first impressions.  There is a lot of good and a lot bad flying around about the 6500, so I would say it is "iffy".
Weaver tactical is nice, but won't live up to the SWFA.
Sightron SIII is also a very nice scope.  I've only "played with" one, it seemed good enough to me, but I have only impressions.  There are a few personnel on this forum, whom I respect a great deal, who speak, mostly, highly of them.   If the opportunity and need arose, I would not have qualms about purchasing an SIII.
I have a few rifles I don't put "tactical" scopes on... nostalgia thing... but tactical scopes, to me, are excellent for hunting... designed for hunting the most dangerous of quarries.  They serve the hunting role quite well.
Opinion,untempered by fact,is ignorance.

There are some who do not fear death... for they are more afraid of not really living
