I'm not sure that anyone has ever ran into this but I am planning to paint my latest rifle/scope combination.  While planning the layout a thought came to mind.  How do that manufacturers handle a scope warranty if it's been painted?  It's my understanding that most scopes are merely replaced so repainting would likely be needed but what if they opted to not cover it due to the change in finish?  Does anyone have this info?  I will likely be contacting a few manufacturers and try to compile any information I get back.

I know I recently Contacted Kahles about sending them a scope to disassemble, send it back to me so that I could re-anodize it, then send it back to them for "re-charging" of the gas and reassembly. They wanted $50 + shipping, but the scope would be covered fully under warranty.

But here's something to consider... you are going to lose all your markings, unless you are VERY skilled at masking them off. That was why I backed out of it.

Changing your the color of your scope's body will not effect the warranty for any brand.

I would highly recommend sending your scope and or firearm to Joe at Larson Tactical for refinishing.

see recent post for example of his work.

I had camo'd a Simmons Prodiamond shotgun scope.  I had it for about 4 years.  It had some water seep in after a day of hunting in heavy rain.  I sent it back to Simmons and had a brand new scope in less then 2 weeks.  It only cost me shipping.  Yes! I camo'd the new scope and have had no trouble since.
