Anybody have any experience with his thermal? Thoughts on it. It's on sale for 900.00 bucks so any other comparably priced thermal I open to suggestions.

I was told it was not usable past about 50 yards..... concept is great but that usability is not. I haven't personally looked at one but going off what I've been told from actual users. If all you're doing is sitting in a blind shooting critters under a feeder it might be the ticket.

A friend has one, the refresh rate makes it a slow-moving slide show. The resolution is not good. If you want it as a toy, sure; if you want it as a tool for some specific task, I'd look for a different tool.

Thanks guys, so what's the best bang for the buck then. 2k is a stretch, but is there a good option at that point or lower?

In my opinion, no. Decent thermal sights start at around $2200. There are no bargain priced thermal optics that actually work well. The least expensive thermal optic that actually has pretty good resolution and a fast refresh rate that I've seen and used is the FLIR Thermosight Pro PTS233. A buddy of mine has one, and it is very nice, a bargain for the price. I hog hunt with thermal often, and have spent a lot of time behind various thermal scopes. I have the FLIR RS32 1.25-5X and the FLIR PTS536. The new FLIRs with the "Boson" core and "digital detail enhancement" are quite nice. |
