Hi all. I’m looking for feedback on the Sig Sauer Whiskey3 4-12x40 and 4-12x50 scopes with the HellFire illuminated reticles. The prospective host is an open-country elk rifle in 270 WSM.

I’m hoping someone here has experience to share about these scopes or any of the Whiskey3 line. Thanks!

I'm interested in the 3-9x50 with Hellfire myself. Specifically wondering how these Sig scopes stack up in low light. I muzzle load hunt a highly managed farm where deer are notorious for moving really late so I need something that will be good in last light. There are some good deals to be had out there on these Whiskey 3 scopes right now and the hellfire would be useful to me. The scope wont do me any good if the glass isn't good in low light though.

Hopefully someone can chime in.

Yeah, I hope some people do chime in. The only thing I’ve been able to rustle up was from a seemingly-knowledgeable rep at a competitor who said that in his opinion, the glass was very similar to the new Nikon Prostaff 5.

i would agree. I compared the Prostaff and the W3 side by side outside the door of a shop here in town. The scopes were without illuminated reticle and the image, at 4x, after careful focusing, they seemed very similar. The Nikon seemed just a tad better in terms of contrast and color rendition.
They were the 42 mm scopes.
The w3 has a very large diameter eyepiece ocular lens, that may influence what kind of mount you can use, depending on how much bolt lift you have on the rifle.

How about in extreme low light?
