I'm looking at the Sightron 3-9x36 with the AO and fine crosshair for a new CZ .22 rifle. I've never owned a Sightron scope, but I've been reading a lot of good stuff on them. Does anybody have any info or comments on the quality, warranty, lens coatings, etc. on the Sightrons?? Also, would the low Millett dovetail rings give me enough clearance for the 36mm objective on the CZ 452 American? I have a 40mm Vari-x III scope with AO mounted on a CZ 452 HM2 with the medium Millets and I've got plenty of room. I've had good luck with the Milletts, but I'm open to suggestions on rings too. Any info or comments would be appreciated. Thanks!!!!! |

I own a Sightron scope (SII 3-9x42MD) and I am extremely happy with it. If I remember correctly, the scope you are asking about is of the same Sightron SII product line. Everyone here at the forum has his own favourite brand, and I am a big fan of Sightron. Optically, IMO, it is equal to anything under $700 that you may find out there. So far it has proven durable and the adjustments are very accurate. They have a lifetime warranty, but I never had a reason to use (just the way I like it) so I can not comment on that. Sightron is a pretty young company (10years), but they are expanding and carving out their place under the sun quite successfully.
As for rings, I am not a big fan of Millet rings. I do not find them as stable as I'd like. Burris Signature rings are very good (the ones with plastic inserts). Warne makes superb rings as well. There are a lot of others that are good, but Burris and Warne are the ones I prefer and have had good luck with. Because of the AO this scope may not work with low rings from some companies. Ring manufacturers publish how high their rings are. Low rings from one company may be of the same heigth as medium rings of another company. You have to find out the outer diameter of the objective bell and the heigth of the ring to calculate if the rings are high enough.
Hope it helps. Ilya |
