I assume these bins have been discussed here.  Notably the 8x32.  I own a pair and found them to be one of the best optical values I've come across.  I like them so much in fact I was thinking about owning a pair in 10x.  However, I'm open to owning these in 42mm. IF they are optically the equivalent of the 32mm. Clarity, and edge sharpness are important to me.  The cost of the 42's interestingly enough is a little less than the 32's at least last time I looked. The other reason I'm considering the 10x42 is I was thinking they might give brighter views on cloudy or low light days considering the higher power.

So to my question. Has anyone here owned, own, or have looked at the Blue sky in either the 8or10x42?  I would be very interested in your opinion on them.  Thanks.

Wow, it's amazing. I've posted this on three websites and not one reply.  Seems nobody has ever bought a pair of these. I feel so sorry for Sightron.  Maybe they'll disco them and I can get a pair for $99Yippee

They've been brought up a few times in discussions.  We do have a member here who has spoke highly of them, I can't remeber who it is. Hopefully they'll chime in.

Well if it was Frank he was talking about the 8x32.  I would just like to get a tiny indication that the 42mm configuration is of the same optical quality of those  and I'll bite.  I'm hesitant to buy without at least getting some kind of review on them.  I hate sending bins back, I've had to do it too many times.

The 8x32 has been discussed in depth over at Birdforum with many people who own $1-2000 bins giving them an A grade for optical quality. That's an amazing feat for a binocular that sells regularly for well under $200.  As I said I own a pair and outside of a stiff focuser there is absolutely nothing to complain about. The edge to edge sharpness, and clarity is stellar for such a price.  Plus they weigh under 18oz and are almost compact in size. If I was a bow hunter I'd use these in a heartbeat. With a harness they would never get in your way.

So hey if you're out there...Howdy how about them 42s?

I could not find anything on the internet for the 8x42's.
Looks like you will have to volunteer to test & review the 8x42's and give us the low down.

I'm going to be patient a little while longer and hope against hope.

I would think most online stores would have some sort of return policy that would allow you to try them out.  I have a Sightron II and a Sightron II Big Sky scope on my two varmint rifles and I've thought about getting the 8x32 "just because".

Call Sightron - I did.  The guy I spoke with was incredibly forthcoming.  He told me the blue sky is an outstanding performer and that the bL10x32 is as good as the BL 8x32.  The product performs better than they hoped or expected - which was surprising to me.  I figured optics was a science and they could have accurately predicted performance.  Showing my ignorance.  He said the Siii ms would be better, but not something an untrained person can spot. I am not trained, so I would fit this category.   He says he can measure it on his test equipment but its not significant difference.   I know this is not impartial, but a rep recommending a lower priced product earns a degree of credibility with me.  the BLs are made in phillipines.  The siii are Japan.

There have been some posts about the SIII LR 8x42 over in the Sightron thread of birdforum. I had the opportunity to utilize a pair on one occasion. Optically they are very similar to the Zen Ray ED3s in terms of apparent sharpness, brightness, CA control and color representation. Definitely a good binocular.

Also, though the original poster probably already knows this, there is an update on the 8x42 SII Blue Sky over in that thread as well. I had the opportunity to try those as well and posted my thoughts. In a nutshell, same optical performance as the 8x32 with a slightly different color bias and a different form of distortion around the edge of the image. Same sized sweet spot, less field curvature and more pincushion.
