A buddy of mine is in the marked for another scope for his new rifle, and asked me what i know about the Sig Saur Sierra 3 BDX 4,5-14x50mm, and the rangefinder : Kilo1800BDX 6x22, that goes to it.
I had to dissapoint him cause i never have seen / heard anything good or bad about this scope???
Can i get any help for him in here?

I got to play with that setup a little bit at an outdoor vendor event here in Oregon. It's pretty nifty. It's a SFP reticle with a firedot-style aiming point. Range the target with the LRF and the aiming dot moves to reflect the new holdover. Seems like a great setup for hunting, especially if you have a buddy ranging the target for the shooter. This setup is purpose-designed for hunting - for target shooting or PRS, I'd stick with "normal" FFP scopes.

The scope, LRF and phone all connect to each other via Bluetooth. Use the phone app to initially program the ballistic curve inside the LRF. Then you can turn the phone off: the LRF and scope don't need the phone app except for configuration. IIRC, can also connect to Kestrel, but they didn't have a Kestrel at the event.

There's definitely a learning curve to setup and using in the field, but you'll get a lot of features for the time investment.

The scope itself was beefy - not a lightweight rig, but seemed high quality and tough. I liked the cant indicator - tells you which way the rifle is canted without removing your eye from the eyebox. I was only able to range targets to 500 yards on a sunny day, range finder worked great to the extent I tested it. Much past 500 yards, you might want a tripod or other stable mount for it.

Bottom line: with a bit of practice and drop confirmation (and not too much wind), a hunter might be able to extend their ethical hunting range by a two or three hundred yards.

Hi Tom

Thank you for your review.
I passed it on to my buddy. He is pleased to get any info he can get a hold on.

The scope is brand new here in DK so it is hard to get a hold on something usefull.

Another hunting buddy of mine told that Smith & Bender have a "system" alike. It should have been used for military purposes for years, but out of reach for the public caused to the price.

I’ve become very keen on the Sig Sauer Tango4 and Tango6 family of rifle scopes.

These are variable power, first focal plane, BDC capable scopes with MOA and MRAD reticles, 30mm tubes and big objectives.

Minor correction point: most Tango6 scopes have 34mm tubes.
