my thirteen year old son got his new Thomson Center Arms , Venture 308,, i was able to buy this scope new a, 6x40 government model 7.62 Springfield Amory.
what can we expect with this set up ?
will Daniel need to know any specific information to be on at 400 yards ?
what is the best way to work towards this goal ?
we are using Federal power shok 150 grain soft point and 180 gr. soft point.
is there other ammo we can use for long range like ,, Hornady  168 a-max ? ( we have some)
is American Eagle ammo  or remington core loc  from wal-mart any good?

some of Daniels history
butler creek 10-22 heavy barrel ect.
remington 870 , 20 gauge rifled barrel
weatherby  sa-08 , 20 gauge auto , grouse ridge clay and skeet
ruger mark llll hunter

we shot 30 rounds today though the TC 308 ,the 1" MOA was spot on

Does it have the bullet drop compensated retical & did you get the manual?

I have owned a Springfield govt. Model in the variable. Glass was decent at the time. It held zero and work well. Just know the ret is set up for meters and depending on your muzzle velocity and bullets will effect how close the ret is to actual meter settings.

It should work as well as any decent scope for the purposes to shoot out to 400 with. If you need a copy of the manual I have one in pdf I could send you.

I have not been able to get good groups from the (AE) American Eagle Ammunition.  The AE will usually have a 2.5" group at 100 yd from my .223 bolt rifle. Where reloads will group at 3/4" from the same rifle.
Folks ain't got a sense of humor no more. They don't laugh they just get sore.

Need to follow the rules. Just hard to determine which set of rules to follow
Now the rules have changed again.
