Holy s#@*, Sparky! Thanks! I just got back from a 22-day turkey hunt vacation and heard nothing of this. I guess the Lions DO have a chance?

The only scope I can find in the mag. range that has been mentioned doesn't have the 0.1 mil target knobs! So estimating price is kinda sticky. I would guess probably in the 500-600 range is where the vari SS is going to land.

Well, fellow shooters, its been some time since I've been out shooting, but in the meantime I've picked up a little .223 and another Remington 700, .308 and both are in need of a good scope. I'm not able to hunt anymore (and it's almost killed me, not being able to walk in the fields and tree filled forests aahh, yes, but thats another story), but I plan on doing a fair bit of target busting! Anyway, this leaves me in need of a couple of scopes and the Super Sniper Variable sorta puts me in a quandry-which gun do I put it on or do I go for a tufer and get the best of both worlds - one on each! Of course this sound like the best idea, BUT, there always seems to be a BUT in there - how much is this little beauty-and I know it will be that-going to cost? I'm thinking somewhere in the $500-800 range which would be doabel. Any educated guesses out there or is it still just a good ? Whatever, whichever way, I hope or plan to get at least one. Good luck to the one that gets to run it through its trials-Mike, would that be you? Hope so, you've done a good job in the past. In any case, I'll be patiently waiting, but hoping it'll be soon........ Jim

Jim,
Wait for it! After almost 5 years, it will be here soon, very soon! And it will be worth the wait, I know this. |

I once spoke with Travis Tritt. He was being touted as an "Overnight Success". He said he didn't know that "Overnight" meant 10 years.
Those are the slowest ducks Ive seen but you can bet your backside they've been the most critical ducks on the planet.

Do you guys honestly believe this is *ever* going to make it to market?
This 'quality takes time' B.S. is like an old record skipping. Other higher-end scopes have gone from conception to market in a fraction of the time -the Premier Heritage and the March scopes, for two right off the top of my head. IOR made the Snipers Hide FFP edition of their popular 3-18x scope in less than a year from finalizing the design - well under. I'd certainly be interested if they ever *do* get the cork out and get this project done, but I honestly believe I'll see pigs flying in formation first. Heck, I made a *simple* recommendation - add an option or two for the reticle pattern for the regular SS16X42 and SS20X42 scopes to make them more useful for target shooting - back in 2005 or 2006. They said 'great idea!' and promptly did absolutely zip about it. Now since 2007 with the smaller scoring rings on the US NRA MR and LR F-Class targets, what *was* a great entry level target scope is no longer viable - because the damn crosshairs cover 90% of the X-ring. If they can't even get the thumb out of their behinds enough to make simple changes like a reticle pattern (on a laser etched piece of glass), what makes you think they'll *ever* manage to bring something like a variable to market? |

Yes they are soon going to be available. Believe me the wait was worth what will be here in the very near future. Making sure that someting lives up to it's namesake is very important to SWFA. They have made sure to not rush anything out of the design and into our grasps without having first taken the time to make sure it will be better than can be expected. Now as you also know the 3-18 was already a production model, and look at some of the problems from making the push. SWFA has seen the pitfalls and taken the time to make sure it's right. So like the old saying goes "Good things come to those who wait"

Wait my arse. They are only losing money the longer they make enthusiast have to wait for this. I see so many post in this thread where people have gotten sick of the wait, sick of the excuses, and sick of the lack of any response to decent questions. I see many have just given up hope and gotten something else. The lack or responses and total ignoring of loyal SWFA customer's questions by them has personally left a bad taste in my mouth.

Well, I'm thinking you might want to get your pigs lined up for some aerial maneuvers training. I'll bet their closer to a variable than you would like to think.
