Looking to outfit a long range varmint rifle for prairie dogs. I was thinking I'd go for the Swaro Z6 with BRX but they don't offer this reticle so down to the Z5? I have a Z5 in 3-18 and think I could live with the 5-25. Maybe by the time I'm ready to outfit my next one the Z6 will have the BRX option.
Can a guy add the turret or is this a factory installed item?

TD - 3-18 will be just fine for shooting p-dogs. Often where I shoot in western SD, mirage becomes and issue. Most of my shooting is done in the 12 to 14x range and that has taken me out to 400 yards no problem.
Not sure on the turrets. |

Looks like the 5-25x52 will make a nice addition to my 3-18x44. I just couldn't resist the extra magnification. I'm sure there will be times that the 25x is useable.
Oh and yes BRX can have the turrets added.
Hoping to hit SD on Memorial Weekend again this year. Missed 2008 and 2009 so I GOTTA go this year...

Very nice. Yes there will be times when the extra mag can be used, but it tends to warm up quick out west. Hope you have a good hunt. Where are you headed too?

Not positive yet. One of the guys likes Mobridge. We went to Winner (Wood) SD in 2007 and had a good time.

Been to Winner and interior (surrounding area), but never been up north. It is highly addictive. What you shooting? We run Savages (brothers, Dad, and BIL) and I have a Ruger in .22-250, and DPMS in .204 & .223.

Sako VLSS in 204 VXII 4.5-14x50LR
Sako VLSS in 22-250 Swaro 5-25x52 (all new combo)
Sako SS in 260 Rem Swaro Z5 3-18x44 (sporter gun limited use)
Rem LVSF in 204 Nikon Monarch 4-16 (sporter gun limited use backup)
I haven't been to the reservation, but that is where friend goes. Winner is pretty much a ghost town in May from what we saw.

Very nice. Slow in Winner? We got on a town last year, helped that my friend rented some farm land from the owner, that had not been shot at in years. Paradise.

Sorry, I meant the town itself. We stayed at the Holiday inn? and ate at the Winner Sports bar. VERY slow town. Food was good though.
When we were out shooting we ended up on a town that had not been shot recently either. Not sure if we can get back on with the same rancher yet. The guy who made the arrangements has been impossible to catch up with thus far.

Gotcha, and Winner is a "big" town west river. Try eating at the Elks. Great Prime rib. You should be around when pheasant season opens. Whole different world. Hope you find a town like that again. Where is home/how far you travel to get to SD?

I'm in central WI as are most of the others. My one contact was in Sioux Falls, but has changed employment and I can't find him.
Will keep the Elks in mind I definitely enjoy good prime.

I used a Swarovski AV-6-18x50 on a ground squirrel trip recently (hold over reticle) and I had to restrict use to 350 yds & beyond because it was no contest any closer. Both of mine are mounted on 204 Rugers, Remington VLSSTH.
