I was looking into picking up a 1-6, for a SPR build, but I had heard the 1-6 will drain batteries even if it is off. For the role I want it for, that would be a deal breaker.

Is this still an issue with the latest generation of SWFA 1-6x scopes?

First I've heard of it! My 1-4 has never had a battery changed out yet! Don't use illumination often but had never failed me yet!

I've only replace my battery once in my 1-6 and it was my fault, I left it on.  The current battery has been in place for about a year and it still works fine.  I seem to remember folks talking about this early on when the scopes were released, but I have not experienced any issues, unless I leave it on which is my fault and not the scope.  Buy with confidence.

I left my battery "in" in my SS1-6… just to see.  It has been in for over six months now and came on STRONG and RED today…  seems to not be an issue… at least with mine.

Me either.  My 1-6x has sitting for nearly a year.  Moved the setup to a 300 Blackout and took it on a pig hunt in Florida.  Came right on at dusk and allowed me to poke a hole from ear to ear on Wilbur.

I actually thought I had removed that battery, but it was a different scope I was thinking of.  The 1-6SS is alive and well.  I don't normally leave batteries in like that, but now I'm going to see how long it will last.

I leave mine in my 1-4,  been there for a year now, rides in my truck so subject to extreme temps too, never an issue.

It might have been me you heard it from, maybe my scope has a defect, it is one of the very first produced. It does indeed drain batteries, but it is the 1-4.
