I'm not sure they do specifically. Is there a scope you have taken a shine to?

Well, sorta. I am trying to pick something for my son's new rifle as a gift. I have some specific needs and some specific idisynchrosies as well. A real short version is SFP, lots of internal adjustment...at least 75, probably more like 90. top range to at least 15, bottom range in the 4ish range. Not too heavy, not too expensive. Must have a zero stop. Would love illumination, but suspect I will have to sacrifice that.
Long and short, 4-16 PST is on the list, but I don't like it's top mag performance. Checking out Athlon optics, based on a reccie from another site And two Mark 4's. One is the 4.5-14 x40, LRT Target...which is being discontinued, I think, for the 50mm version with uncapped M1 turrets. The new one would be even better, but the weight and price are more hefty. So yeah, that older version of the 4.5-14x40 is on my mind. Any thoughts on this scope or a direct competitor? |

I really need to stay below 700 if at all possible. Which is hard, and asking alot, I know. Honestly, if the PST glass was better on top magnification, I would probably be good to go, though not absolutely sure it has enough elevation. I would be very close, but we could make due for the rare occasion we needed more with holdover, I supposed.

http://swfa.com/SWFA-SS-3-15x42-Tactical-Rifle-Scope-P87717.aspx Thats asking a whole lot for $700. But these two meet all your criteria except zero stop and illumination. What rifle/caliber are you putting it on? |

It is going on a 6.5 Grendel.
The scopes I am considering at the moment are Vortex 4-15 PST Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14 x 40 LRT Target Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14 x 50 LRT M1 Athlon Midas 4.5-27 x 50 I will add the SWFA offerings to look into. How does the glass on those linked above compare to the ones I am looking at currently? Are all SWFA scopes Mils? Want to go MOA as that is how my current scopes are. Thanks! |
