I keep hearing about these scope/mount packages, and they seem like a great deal. I am new to the forum, and I can't seem to find the things, they are becoming my own personal unicorn, so to speak. Help, anyone?

Apache, welcome to Optics Talk.
THe packages you are hearing about are no longer available. Last year we offered a group buy for a short time on several items wich included an SS, Bobro precision mount, and Switchview throwlecer and Butler Creeks. Unfortunately that special has passed an is no longer available. What sort of package were you looking for?

Though the package has passed, all components are still available.

thanks for the heads up, much appreciated. when you guys refer to "group buys," do you mean buying components grouped together in a package? or a gmroup of people buying a set number of items at the same time, as a group? sorry, like i said, I am new to this, and all other forums, just trying to learn the lingo.
I want to get a low to mid power variable that has a mil/mil set up and will work with a project rifle that I am having put together while I am deployed. I dont know how to put on here other threads or what not as a reference, but its the one about asking for ideas related to a project rifle scope, yadda yadda. Based on all the reading I have been able to do, it seems like itll likely either be the swfa 3-9x42 or the leupold VX-R patrol 3-9x40. either one seems like it would work. I guess the good part is that I will be deployed for a while yet, so I have plenty of time to make up my mind. |

First off thanks for your service!
Once you make up your mind. contact SWFA directly and talk to them. Being your a serviceman and all they may put you together a package like they had. Can't hurt to ask. The one thing you will learn fast is that SWFA is one of the best if not the best company when it comes to Customer Service.
Skylar, who posted on here already, is an employee at SWFA and I'm sure would be glad to help you when you call.

Kind of. When items are built together they are called "Kit" then they are marketed online in forums. They are labeled as group buys because forums are groups of people. In order to offer discount to a specific market base or enthusist.
Based on what you would like to use. I would definetely suggest the SS 3-9X42. Matter of fact, here are all the components of the Kit that were created. SVT made a great point, and I'd be more than happy to assist you with your purchase if you like. |
