Just wanted to share:
my turret set screws on my swfa 16x42 loosened up due to recoil. Has anyone else had this happen? Planing on using the weakest loctite on them when I rezero. I love this scope and this evening while groundhog hunting my turrets went mushy and would only intermittently click. I got kind of grumpy about this thinking my scope was crapping out after 2 years of being awesome. I love that these scopes only cost $300. After my Leupold 8.5-25 vx3 started losing elevation when I worked the turrets for distance I sold it on ebay and went with SS. I make no claims at being some super marksman but with a Leica rangefinder, Bulletflight on my iPhone and 70 grain nosler handloads for my .243 this scope has made me really happy. It is the perfect $300 groundhog hunting scope. I've killed them running at 80 yards and after 2 years of searching out longer range shooting possibilities have made hits this summer at 390, 420, 465, and 484 yards. People who think they know everything about firearms laugh at me with my "no name internet scope". Well when I make hits beyond what they can see while they're standing next to me and they walk out 450 yards with me to confirm my hit- all they are is silent. I just wanted to tell everyone out there who has one of these to maintain the set screws on the turrets and to share the success I feel as a marksman that these awesome scopes help to deliver.

I just got the SS 3-15x42 - that gives me something to think about. Once I get the scope set the way I want, I might put some color preserver over the screws. This is a weak sealer type glue that goes over the thread when you wrap guides on a fishing rod before adding wrap finish. It can easily be removed if needed.

Finger nail polish might also work. A little bit will go a long way.

If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?
