I'm not sure why I think these are so cool and I definitely don't need them, but for some reason I want a pair.  Can anyone give me a good reason why I shouldn't try to find a good deal and grab one?  It will mostly be used for spotting long range shots and measuring correction, but also for keeping in my truck and using it to glass for wildlife in the desert.
A couple questions as well:
Are they kid proof?
Will they work to spot targets that are 25 yards away?

Welcome on board.

I've not used that model but I rate the Steiner stuff I have used pretty highly.

Best wishes,

I have no experience with that model. I do have the 15X80 and it is a fine pair of binoculars for my uses. Like the two Steiner rifle scopes I have, they are also of very high quality build.
The M830 will close focus down to 66 ft and should fit the bill for your use along with the range finding.

Agree, kid proofing optics is not feasible.

Rocks are not "kid proof".... should one expect more of a high dollar precision optic???
