I am looking into 1911's. Much of my handgun experience is with GLOCKS but lookin for somthing different to tinker with. I have heard more bad then good things about taurus so I am leary but it sure looks sharp? I would like to hear everyones opinions on this one.
Thanks Selsor

I do not own one yet, but plan on changing that soon.  I have shot 4 of them ( 3 steel frame and 1 alloy frame)  all have shot great.  The Alloy frame took some breaking in, even after a thorough cleaning it just felt gritty when you worked the action, but after 300 rounds it was all but gone, and never failed regardless of the gritty feel.  One thing to consider is the equipment rails on these are a bit larger than other 1911's and they will not fit most holsters made for a 1911/w rail , but there are some out there, maybe more now as the last I looked was about a year ago.  I'm not a big fan of the straight 8 sights, but they are effective and they do grow on you.  Also, I'm not a big fan of Taurus, but this gun is pretty nice and hard to pass up for the price.  So far as I know there have been no problems with any of the four I have shot, although there are only two that get shot frequently, each of these will gobble up anything they throw at including all the reloads, even on the lighter powder charges.  Good luck and let me know what you wind up getting.

Also, if you are thinking about getting the alloy frame, one thing I ran into was the frame got a little dingy looking from the oils I was using,  it seemed to just soak it up, mostly right off my hands as I was cleaning quite a few guns that afternoon.
