Boy was I shocked to see how much it now costs for BP supplies!!!  I haven't shot my Hawkens in several years and then it was traditional BP, ball and patch....

I just acquired my first in-line and went shopping for bullets and powder. Shocked

$34 for 10oz of Blackhorn 209
and $11.75 for Qty 15 TC 250GR SHockwave spire points!!!Loco

Well I shopped around and quickly realized that the Shockwave price was actually pretty good. Whacko

I kept shopping and found these.  For the fans of the TC 250Gr Shockwave spire point (black sabot w/ yellow tip bullet)  Qty of 30 for only $15.50 works out to 51.67¢ each. I ordered several (6) to take advantage of the $8 flat rate shippng!

I picked up an open box  return for http://www.eabco.com/store/products/TC_Maxi_Ball_Muzzle_Loader_Bullets_Conical_Lead_Bullets-1394-188.html
at a kmart the day. Finally got a chance to shoot the ole smoke pole sunday a few times.  Open sites at 100 yds produced a nice 2.5" group with these.  I believe until i have time to scope it and really stretch it out these big ole wads of lead will work.

Yep, so far so good.  I'm currently shooting 54gr by weight of the BH209.  According to their website 100gr by vol should weight 70gr...  But when I used my curca 1970s CVA brass powder dispenser with a 30gr nipple it took 4 nipple fulls (120gr) to get 70gr by weight.  I'm already grouping under 1.5" at 100yds with 54gr by weight  so I'm pretty happy.  I just need to have good weather and set up my Chrono and find out what Velocity I'm at before I increase the load.  That and I what to get one of those see-thru adjustable charge measures...  Once I have that I'll re-compare vol to weight again and go from there.
