And what I'm saying is the committee is gonna look at outside conference wins against up and coming or perennial power house...sexy. Not a lock, if you can't win your conference, but a win like Auburn had against K State this year helped them take the #3 spot. IMHO. You and I were giving it to Bammers. I still like Bama over Auburn, frankly.
When more and more teams are thinking about dropping their cup cake, early season schedule and picking up a Ohio State, or a ND, I believe, (maybe incorrectly), the more teams will start scheduling accordingly. Don't doubt me, Mister!!!

I hear ya, and agree. A team should be awarded for playing tougher opponents and strength of schedule should have an impact on rankings and playoff contention. What I'm saying is any given team may want to play better competition outside of conference play, but wanting and getting are 2 different things. It's not a simple matter of picking up the phone and saying "hey Florida State, let's play a football game next year." Given that any year there will only be maybe 20 teams with enough talent to play for all the marbles, and you have 4 or 5 non-conference games to fill...there are only so many of those elite opponents to go around. And, that assumes they will still be elite by the time you play them, given you have to negotiate game dates with other schools years in advance, sometimes 10 years in advance. When teams change conferences, it throws schedules further in disarray. It's tough to get a consistently tough team on your non-conf schedule. This is why all good teams have at a minimum of 2 and sometimes 5 or 6 cupcakes on their schedule every year. There just isn't enough elite teams to go around, and you have to fill your schedule with games you can negotiate at mutually available dates with other teams.

How does FSU keep coming back in games they were clearly losing?? They were down 21-0 to The Ville last night and come roaring back in the second half to win 42 - 31??
Has Jimbo and Winston made a pact with dark forces and become vampires or what?

I watched the first half and Louisville was kicking butt... 3 pics and some sacks... they ran and passed well. Then it went all to hell. Bummer, I was hoping for a FSU smack down.

Great games yesterday! A&M beats Auburn on the road and Bammers beats LSU at night, at Death Valley.
Good day for The Tide, for sure. Next week is Bama is hosting Miss State in a monumentally important SEC West game that may have national championship implications as well. You know, I've never been sold on Bama QB Blake Sims, until last night. Sims is a winner and I was wrong about him. Another game of interest, (to me), is FSU going to Miami to play the Hurricanes. I said it earlier in the year that this was a trap game for FSU and I still think it is. Here's hoping The Canes can pull off the upset!! |

This is the whackiest college football season I can remember.
Bammers is for real. They might be the only team to kill off the evil F$U this year. ANOTHER come from behind win for the holes... I've never seen anything like it. Florida can't get one lousy first down to seal the win against the HBC. Blocked, chip shot field goal attempt, and a blocked punt...... |

BREAKING: Getting word now that Florida IS interested in talking to Alabama OC Lane Kiffin about their coaching vacancy. Would be a home run hire ... great offensive mind, great recruiter, feels like he has something to prove, has matured, has spent a year with Nick Saban, would bring in Ed Orgeron to run the defense, and here is another nugget .... Lane's wife Layla is a graduate of .... the University of Florida. |

Shanny was a assistant at Florida back in the day. Foley won't hire him. Too old.

He's going to end up somewhere...NO WAY he stays at Bama under Saban. Like Skip say's too much ego.
IF...and I mean IF..he could grow up and not do stupid crap, keep his mouth shut, run a CLEAN program, (for all his losses, Muschamp did) and just coach up the kids there, I'd be all for him becoming Florida's HC. I'm just SO AFRAID it would end like this.... |
