I am leaving for the Ozona, TX area for a week long rest and relaxation/hunting trip and am considering purchasing a rangefinder. Some of the shot distances can be upwards of 400 yards and out to infinity depending on where you hunt. After a little research, I have almost pinpointed the decision to the Vortex Ranger 1800. However, another runner up is the Sig Kilo 2200BDX. I am trying to figure out a good reason to not get the Ranger 1800 over the Kilo2200 especially when you consider I have no plans to utilize a Sig scope which could make use of the BDX feature. If the rangefinder could accurately range deer out to 600 yards, I would be perfectly happy. Any thoughts? Thanks! |

My experience with rangefinders is that they find metal objects a very long way off with deer not nearly as far so sometimes one has to range something at approximately the same distance and make the educated guess. My experience with Vortex is that they have superb customer service they replaced a red dot for me no questions asked. I cant think of any manufacturer with a better warranty. My experience with Sig has varied for years I carried a Sig P220 then I bought two Sig 1911's one after the other neither one was reliable even after return trips to the factory. I'd say go for the Vortex Ranger 1800 its probably way better than my old Nikon rangefinders. |

This is a good range finder for the money. I compared this to the Leopold 1000i side by side because they are both in the same price point and both offer almost identical features.
