I had a buddy that had a 600 or a 660 can't remember which in .350. Definitely will rattle your teeth. Even then I decided it was a young mans rifle like my 88 in .358!

My dad and I used to ogle those Mannlicher-Schoenauers back in the sixties.  The bolts would just slide out, and then you tip the rifle down and the bolts just glided forward...

...still can't afford one....

By  Alan Robertson :
".358 Winchester is built on a .308 case, but is unappreciated and gets close to Whelen velocities, with some loads. I think a BLR in .358Win is about it for a fast action big hog rifle."

I knew a fellow some years ago, liked older & semi-obsolete stuff. He particularly liked Savage 99's.

IIRC, he had at four in 358 Win. Asked me to work up a load for them. Gave me some brass and a '99A'. Offhand, it pointed like a shotgun.

Boy did that thing shoot ! I don't think recoil was so bad. I've thought about re-barreling a Remington pump to 358 Win.

Truly an under appreciated cartridge.

Think 358 would be a great wild boar cartridge...

That fellow I mentioned in my previous post had a remington pump in 35 Whelen. I shot that thing a few times. I thought recoil was noticeably 'stiff'.

The 300 Savage is so forgotten, they don't even mention it on the Forgotten cartridge threads.....

Yep, that's what a 760 is!

Unpleasant!
