Thanks for the PDF, Ick; it's very concise and useful.

One thing to note ... If you're concerned about accuracy among these guns (as I am), the 1 in 7" twist rate might be a detriment to the Sig 522.  I didn't even think about that until today ... with 22LR, the closer to 1 in 16", the better.

As your file notes, the S&W twist rate is 1 in 15".  The twist rate for all Colt models is 1 in 13.75", according to the following:

Wow, that detail is IMPRESSIVE on that 308.

By the way, I did a TON more research into this yesterday.  I will throw up a note when I get the file uploaded.

I am certainly intersted in acquiring one of these 22lr rifles.

There seems to be some interest here.... since this was the second thread in the last month or so that asked about the SIG or the S&W..... so I did a bit more research.

Here is the updated information.  I finally got around to hosting the file myself.

http://www.ick.bz/pdfs/22lr_options.pdf

First question, Do you see any errors in my document?

Second question, do you know any new information about release dates that are not shown in the PDF?

Third question, have you looked at these rifles? Apparently they were at the 09 Shot Show. I am looking to confirm that the Colt M4 in 22lr has a threaded barrel. Can you add any DETAILS that I am missing?

Thanks for your help. I hope you like the PDF file.

Thanks budperm.  Here is my summary.  Please let me know if you see any errors.

Weapon

Cost

Released

Barrel

Notes

SIG SAUER - SIG522

$500 ?

About to be released to market soon I think

No threads on barrel, doesn’t look to me like it can be modified to have threads.

A different look, I like it.

Smith & Wesson M&P15-22.

$ 500

Release within a year

No threads on barrel.  Not sure about the possibility to thread barrel.

Almost Looks like a standard AR.

German Sports Guns GSG-5 and related

Around $ 500 depending on style and availability

Various models on market, can be a hard weapon to find in stock

No threads, and doesn’t look like it can be modified to do so.  The muzzle seems to have integrated parts.

MP5 kind of look to it.  Looks like a lot of variants on the market from pistol to rifle setups.

Colt / Umarex M4 Carbine

Unknown, saw listed for $595 but could be as much as $700?

Release is scheduled for May 2009

Looks like it might take the standard A2 flash hider.  Need to confirm this.

Looks like there are several models.

Every model of each of those...  seems to be near $500.... EXCEPT for the Colt.  I saw an MSRP of $595 suggested for the Colt.  Someone elsewhere suggested $700 was the target asking price since it is a "Colt", but the consensus was that this was an unrealistic number.
