Non BCS teams can't compete for a BCS National Championship.
Right? If I'm wrong, help me understand.
Your conference for better or worse decided against joining the BCS.
Isn't it sort of like the best team in the Canadian Football League demanding to play the AFC Champion in the Super Bowl??
Oh...I'm taking LSU and Les Miles in a barn burner in Bama Saturday......Sorry Brother Mike.
 I honestly like Bama way better, but think Miles is going to pull one out. Les played too conservatively against Florida this year and it cost him. He won't make that same mistake twice.

I know, I know....... I would say i'm sorry BUT it wouldn't be sincere!! I haven't been a fan of any Florida team since the days of Jimmy down at Miami when he was recruiting convicts so he could beat the Sooners (since he couldn't get it done when he coached OSU)..
I fall asleep every night watching the replay of T-Bow getting knocked out!! (i'm sure this will inspire CheapT to wade into this)!

I said earlier this year that Gators and Bama would (Likely) be great. I see UGA being two seasons away from returning to their position among the elite. BCS probably will do everything they can to avoid the top two from being SEC, but I think we all know that facts will ultimately sway them.

I would also love to see a playoff system implemented but I doubt we will ever see it. There is to much money in the BCS system and to much politics just like everything else standing in the way of the way things should be

Plus, say a team like Boise State goes undefeated. They did everything they could possibly do. They can't help who their opponents were on their schedule, and schedules are made years in advance. No matter... as long as high profile teams like Florida, Texas, and/or Bama remain undefeated, they don't have a snowball's chance in hell of playing for a national championship. Now, one could argue just by watching them play that they aren't as good a team as those elite teams at the top of the polls, and perhaps this is true. But, without the ability to play teams head to head in some type of playoff system, we will never really know.
Quite often, a team peaks toward the end of the season, yet if that team finishes strong but has a loss or two at the beginning of the season, they are usually out of contention. Or, if a team finishes undefeated, but doesn't blow out most of their opponents convincingly enough, this may be enough to keep their ranking lower to the point they cannot compete for the title. Then, why should a team be downgraded in the rankings if they lose a game to a higher ranked opponent, who should beat them if the rankings are valid? All sorts of things about the BCS system don't make sense. The only way to know without a doubt who has the best team at the end of the season is to settle the matter on the field. The BCS system sucks!!! |
