Well, as I previously stated in this thread and in my "texts" to Mr. Winkle.Whistling..ahem....I love the BCS. It's great for my team.
All a playoff would mean for me and the Gators is less national championships....and I admittedly don't like that.
 
Let the computers decide people!!! Their smarter than us and know whats best. 
 
Their not given to emotions like us and can make better choices....Wink

I agree totally.  My question was a rhetorical one to point out another reason why the BCS system sucks.  If you start out the year -- before playing the first game -- highly ranked, your chances of playing for all the marbles at the end of the year is much greater, even if you have a loss.  A lower ranked team at the beginning of the year has a monumental task in getting that chance, even if they blow out almost all their opponents convincingly, as TCU has done.  What more could a team like TCU have to do to get to the big game?  The odds were against them before they took the very first snap of the season.

A playoff system is needed.  I would argue that the schools would make MORE money in the bowls with a playoff system because they could play a couple more games and each game would have more significance.  More teams' football programs would get more national coverage.  I would be willing to bet most fans want a playoff system, as it makes the end of the season more exciting.  All other sports at all other levels have a playoff, why not big time college football?   Use the existing bowls as the playoff games and seed the top 14 or so teams.  Then, you'd really know who the national champion is.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not implying that the existing top 3 teams don't legitimately deserve their ranking; just that we really don't know because there are some really good teams below them that won't get a chance to prove themselves because they are in a less respected conference, something they have no control over.

The SEC is getting most of the attention right now, but what if the 2 best teams in the country are both in the Lone Star State?Wink  We aren't likely to ever know if that's the case.

Based on our Govt's track record for solving problems....maybe we better keep the BCS computers.   We'd probably end up with the Dallas Cowboys playing the New York Yankees for the NBA title.
