To an extent I think that it comes down to preference.  I have shot a couple under .25 MOA, 5 shot groups with my 3# trigger.  One of the instructors I take classes from shoots a 4# trigger and I have seen him shoot a couple sub 2 inch groups at 600 yards.  But at the same time I realize less could help as it will lead to less movement.  But I still think a good shooter can make higher pulls work just fine.

I have Jewell's, Timney's, old style stock trigger, and X mark triggers.  The Jewell is the way to go if you want a trigger pull under a pound.  My 6ppc's at 1.5oz.  But I actually prefer the Timney because it uses the widest shoe that will fit through the trigger guard.  It gives me the best control of any trigger I own and actually makes the weight feel like less than it really is.  I don't care for the razor sharp edges of the unusually skinny Jewell shoe.

I have been watching an AGI R700 armorers course and Bob Dunlap is the instructor.  He says you should never set a stock Remington trigger below 4.5#s.  He stressed that pretty hard too.  Kind of interesting.

Did he say why he won't go below 4.5#'s on a stock remey triger?

He said they come from the factory heavier than that, but you can go to 4.5# safely if everything is clean and it works free and easy.  That was his whole explanation. 

I am guessing just because it is an armorers course and he does not want to be responsible for joe blow setting his buddies trigger to light based on watching his vid.

Sorry Iam getting in here so late, work has been a .....  Anyway, just my 2 cents on this. I replaced all of my Remington triggers with timney triggers without any problems.  They are all sweet and smooth pulls.  No creep just clean crisp pulls... I have them set at 2.5 simply because I don't want any accidents and that pull is great for what I do... JMO.  Bandito

     Huh...My Sendero was at 3.5lbs & my VS was 3.9lbs before I performed surgery on them. I have the Lyman trigger pull gage, & did the 10 pull average for those #'s.  Wink

My Etronx, which is based on a Rem 700 Sendero, came from the factory at 3lb...  It is a "electronic" trigger, but is supposed to be form, fit, function like the "real thing".

  Tell ya the truth, I don't remember ever having a Remmy with a stock pull at 4lbs. or above.
