I was wanting to know if anyone has done a side by side comparison of the Burris Signiture Select and the old Leupold vari-x III.  Which scope has better glass?  Thanks, catt

The current Burris Signature Select, on the ones I've seen.  The Vari-X III's generally weighed less, but were not as bright (i.e., they ran out of light sooner when it got dark).

I have only owned the leupold but in a comparison the burris easily exceeded the leupold in optical quality (brightness and resolution). I will go on however and say the leupold wins in customer service and weight by a mile.

if you wanted to compare it easier at a store take a vxII and compare it to the burris in question.

After seeing the difference with the VX lll to the Vari x lll, I would still rate the burris sig select over the VX lll. Actually the sig select has some really good glass when compared with any of its direct competition in IMHO.

Agree with you there focus.  I would take the sig sel any day over the vx IIIs.

Last year I ordered a Burris Signature Select in 3-12x 42mm. I did not like it. It was big, heavy, not much eye relief, the zoom in/out ring was extremely hard to turn, and the optics were'nt all that great either. I sent it back and got a Sightron Big Sky 3-12x 42mm scope and have been extremely happy with that one.
