Hello,I have been looking around and doing some research as to what would be considered the toughest spotting scope available with very little consensus it seems. What are your opinions on the subject? I'm looking to buy my first spotter and want something that is built very well (if not overbuilt). I know that the Leupold Mark 4 is being used by most, if not all branches of the military and is considered by some to be the toughest but are there any other comparable options that are "combat tough"? I realize that some companies have outstanding warranties but I want to put that aspect aside for now and see what people think would be the last scope to have to be sent back for repair would be.
That said, I'm looking at the $1200 range for both body and eyepiece. I'd also prefer an angled eye piece and an objective size around 60mm or so. So far I have been thinking one of the smaller Kowas or the non ED Nikon Fieldscopes. What are your opinions? Thanks for your response(s) in advance. -Cliff

If tough is your main criteria, and want great glass to boot, look no further than a Gold Ring HD. It also has the most generous eye relief of any spotter I've ever seen.
