I have some tripods when looking at deer at 500 to1500 yards, just the slightest touch or wind makes it vibrate. is there a short tripod that does not do that?

You can't completely eliminate all possible vibrations when using a high magnification optic. I have a Manfrotto 055X PRO B that's pretty solid using my 20-60X spotter, and I've used it in reasonably heavy wind. It's just as important to have a solidly locking head that the spotter body attaches to.

If the center extension on your tripod has a hook or loop underneath it, if you hang a heavy weight from the loop (rock backpack, etc.) it will greatly stabilize the tripod, but depending on your hunting style and setup, you may not have time to do that.
