Hi, I know i'm in the wrong forum. But i would like to get an answer to my question. in the other forum
"no body is home"
Hi, I'm looking for an economical video camera to take hunting with zoom. I don't know anything about them. I would like to video the hunt. I don't need all the "bells and whistles". Just zoom and audio. We currently have a Kodak camera that does video as well. But I think I would like more zoom. This has only 10 x zoom. What do you suggest?

GoPro line is the best by far…

The "black" edition is best, but "white" is cheapest.

Kickboxer, I agree with you, however the OP would like more digital magnification than 10X. GoPro, unfortunately is 1X.

Have you thought of just a handheld camcorder? Like from Samsung or Vivtar?

My every day camera for work is the Nikon Coolpix 9700 It has 30X zoom. This is my second Coolpix camera and they have been rugged. The last one stood up to over 240 thousand shots plus some video over 4 years before it was dropped on concrete and damaged. Great cameras.

For anything that requires zoom, GoPro is not optimal.

These days,  I would suggest going for a nice point and shoot camera since they have very good video modes.  A dedicated video camera is a more limited device.

Still, the basic problem you have is that ruggedized cameras do not have much zoom and cameras with a lot of zoom are not ruggedized.

Additionally, since a lot of hunting situation involve situation with limited amount of light, you also have to deal with low light sensitivity issues which will blow a hole through your budget in a hurry.

I'll start with what I think will work well for you without being extraordinarily expensive and if it is more than you want to spend, I'll make other recommendations.

If I were looking for a camera for your application, i would be taking good hard look at Panasonic FZ200.
