Vortex 2-7x32 Viper Rifle Scope Dead-Hold BDC Vortex 2-7x32 Viper Rifle Scope
Stock # - VPRM02BDC
  • Matte
  • Dead-Hold BDC
  • 1"
$169.95
Today I recieved a 2-7x32 Viper and a set of Talley rings for my Tikka and I got a chance to look it over a little and mount it so if the water ever goes down (range is flooded) I will give you a tad more info on this. So far my impression is positive. The current price is way below their suggested retail so a very good deal for a BDC scope of this quality.  No its not a Zeiss but its quite useable and I like the idea of a low top power with a BDC since you can only use the BDC effectively at the maximum power on most scopes. 32mm divided by 7power gives you a 4.57 exit eye pupil which should be fairly decent in low light 7mm being ideal for a young man.  Most of the game I've shot was early morning or late evening so having a BDC on a high power scope is about worthless to me.  At 2 power you have a really wide field of view and at 7x I can still hand hold it with no rest and do OK so this is definately a hunting scope and a compact size for those light weight rifles like my tikka that are easy to carry a lot.  The knobs can be used to dial in correction and are spring loaded so you can lift them and reset to zero.  It seems to be a decent scope with a great warranty at a really good price so this one should go on the list of best buy for the money.

I also received mine, and it is also for a Tikka.

It is a nice little scope.  Fit-and-finish is excellent.  Mine has a clean, sharp image, and a touch of tunnel vision.  I really like the uncluttered BDC.  The turrets are really crisp, and the power ring is oh-so-smooth.

What a steal!

Thank you for your commentary, Wes. Looks like Vortex has earned a spot in the market place.
We are living in good times for optics these days.

I got my 2-7 with BDC yesterday, and I agree totally with Urimaginaryfrnd.  Very impressive little scope, even before the great pricing that's available right now.  This is a very light, compact scope, pretty much perfect for light-weight rifles.  I think the BDC reticle will be very useful, with 7x being more than enough for my regular deer hunting needs.  The glass is nice and sharp from edge to edge on mine, with a bright view, and overall it appears to be well built and is finished nicely.  The see-thru clear/yellow scope covers that are included tend to blur the view too much for me, so they will probably not get used much, if at all.  Packaging is excellent.  Overall, this is a very nice, user-friendly scope at a really great bargain price.  I really wonder what Vortex is planning to do in regards to a replacement model in this power range.

I'm VERY interested in one of these scopes as a replacement for my 3-9 Bush trophy that sits atop of my Marlin 30-30. When I do re-scope, I plan on using Hornady Lever Revolution ammo. Does anyone that has the BDC reticle have any input? Do I just sight in at 100 yards and the dots below correspond to the different ranges? OR do I still have to see what MY gun and MY ammo are shooting with a lot of bench time? I'd go ahead an buy one if it wasn't for the boss (wife) already letting me get a Viper 4-12x40 this morning! I value my life LOL---Bboy623

The values for the BCD fits the a 270 win. The bullet drops for a 30-30 win. will put the bullet low at even 100s of yards. This can be seen using the free downloadable program form Remington called Shoot.

I got mine (plex reticle) a couple of days ago and I'm in 100% agreement with what's been said here. It's gone onto a Rem700 mountain rifle in 7mm08 in Talley ultralights and it's a perfect match.

You're right, that's a nice match.  It's going to really look nice on that Mountain Rifle.  Mine's going on a Model 70 Featherweight in .257 Roberts, but I'll be using Burris Signature rings.
