I know most folks are waiting for the 1-4 Viper to drop, but my interest is (currently) with the Vortex Razor HD 1-4x24 (EBR-556 reticle). I'd like very much to hear the impressions and opinions of those that have time behind it and how it compares to other optics in it's class.
Thank you. Yak Edited by Yak - October/11/2010 at 21:53 |

Yak,
This scope is the best of both worlds. On 1x it works very well like an Aimpoint and on 4x it works like an ACOG.
It is easily better than the Night Force 1-4x and Trijicon Accupoint 1-4x. It beats the NF all around and especially optically and reticle wise.
The Trijicon Accupoint is very similar optically but is lacking in the reticle and turret department. Edited by Chris Farris - October/12/2010 at 15:19 |

The only pro for the Trijicon would be that it has better (as in brighter) illumination than both the Vortex and the NF, but that might be a moot point to most anyway. Especially since (imho) the reticles for the Vortex and NF are better than anything Trijicon has to offer.

Thanks for the replies, gents. The more I look into it the more I'm liking the Razor. The reticle seems well thought out and useable for CQB and mid-range engagements. The mention of the NF NXS is appropriate, for me at least, as that is one of the optics on my short list... which is now shorter. ;)

The USO SN-4 with the Lund reticle is also a very nice scope with (IMHO) a great reticle.
The illumination isn't as bright as the trijicon, but not any worse than the Vortex or NF. |

The USO is on my list but the Lund reticle isn't as I'm issued m855. I had USO price their SN-4 SFP optic out using a green illuminated reticle choice similar to the Lund and it came in roughly $200.00 more than the Razor. If you like USO and powered reticles than you should give the green version a look as theirs is a bit better in the daylight than their red IMHO.

I've looked through a green one, but it's not bright enough for me.
As far as I'm concerned, S&B, Meopta, Trijicon, S&B and Swarovski are the only ones with adequate illumination for daytime use. |

How is the optic quality of the Razor vs the Trijicon? I have a TR24 on an AR15 now but the clarity on anything less than 3x seems a little lacking.
Is the Vortex worth upgrading.
I still like my ACOG 4x Trijicon on another rifle but want the flexibility of lower power/closer targets.
