Hello,   this is my first post. Nice forum you have here.
I was getting ready to buy a spotting scope, and was wondering if anybody new about the differances in the Vortex special purchase 20x60x80 and thier Sandpiper 15x45x65.
I am mainly interested in opinions on their clarity and toughness diferences if their is any?
Best Regards,
Yardage

Well its hard to say because the different zoom and larger objective will affect the optical quality so I would ask if you are leaning towards a smaller scope like the 65mm or a larger 80mm and then go from there.

Im leaning toward the larger objective, i have a nice tripod and wont be packed very far. Mainly to view across a shallow valley 500-850 yards spotting the dust of fired shots from a 6.5mm thru 30 caliber hitting the hillside while gathering dope and practicing.

At those kinds of distance I would lean towards the larger 80mm scope, the extra power will be handy if there is no heat waves. Plus if you have lots of light the image will be nicer and easyer on your eyes. Good luck
