Hi! im new here, have been reading alot of good stuff from this board but need some adwise. I currently own a Nikon buckmaster 4.5-14x40. But I want a little bit better optic for low light and greater magnification for my long range hunt. There for I want a 50 objektive. So I have narrow it down to:
Meopta Meopro 6-18x50 Nikon Monarch 3 4-16x50 Vortex Viper PA 6,5-20x50 Those are all in the same price range here in sweden. So no other scope is relevant. However im alittle bit confused about the meopta. Its hard to find information about it and its only 10 years warranty. Nikon have 30 years warranty and vortex have that VIP warranty. I have no opportunity to test any of those scopes, its just online shops. Nikon is not a common scope brand in sweden yet but seems to grow. Vortex is growing and seems to be populare but I dont hear anything about the meopro. The Nikon buckmaster have served me well for 2 years and im happy about the mechanics and the crisp glass. Just want alittle bit more magnification and brighter scope.

Which reticle are you considering in the vortex? The wide duplex is not good in low light whereas the Nikon has a traditional duplex that is much better. Beyond that the Vortex is hands down the better scope, I've had both and never really thought much of the coloration or image quality of the nikon. It seems to my eyes to lean toward the yellow end of the light spectrum while the Vortex is a much truer image. As for the Meopta I have no experience with the 6-18..

We measure it with a micrometer, mark it with a crayon, and cut it with a chainsaw.

Ok thank you for answere. The Meopro really bugs me. Seems like noone have bought it, used it, reviewed it or tested it. So little information makes me suspicious about it.

I would look at the meopta for its low light capabilities. I think the glass would equal or better the other two scopes you listed. Do a search on this forum, you'll find feedback on meopta range |

I think I will go with the meopta, if im not happy i can return it i guess. I just got to try this "ghost".
Today I finally had the oppurtunity to compare a Monarch 3 4-16x50 with a vortex viper pa 6.5-20x50 head to head. I must say both had very good glass but I was a little bit dissapointed of the Viper. It was clear up to 12-14 and then got blurry and not clear edge to edge even thou I adjusted the paralax. Maybe it was just that scope but after reading so much positive about the vipers, well its almost a hype, i could help to feel dissapointment. The monarch wasnt 100% clear on all magnifications either but it was alot better i must say and more ergonomic to the eye. Well, I will go with the meopta meopro and if im not happy it will be a monarch.

TheSwede,
Are you still liking the meopro? I'm in the market for some new glass myself. I really like the warranty that vortex promises, and have been looking at the Viper 6.5-20x50 a lot.

Hi! I bought a used sightron s2 big sky but now im up for buying again so its on. Still cant decide between monarch 3 and meopta. Nikon have lifetime warranty if you register online, meopta 30 years. Vortex is not happening. I have friends with Vortex and its not sharp at 16 magnification also bad low light and they have also had mechanical problem.

FYI... any MeoPro riflescopes purchased in the USA are covered by Meopta USA's North American Lifetime Transferable Warranty. MeoPro riflescopes purchased outside of North America have a standard "out-the-box" 10-year warranty.

Yes I work for Meopta, but I am not here to sell Meopta. Just answering questions and providing reasonable insight.

Hey guys,
I thought I would give you some info. I have compared all three. Im actually quite surprised nobody has been commenting on this. I've looked through a lot of vortex's and a lot of nikons and own both brands so im not a biased/annoying vortex guy. I have a Christensen arms 7mm RM, I put a Viper 6-24 PST on it and took an elk last year at 650 yards. I have a Monarch (gifted to me) on a varmint rifle. I don't love the nikon and you have to be scared too because who hasnt dropped a gun and ruined a scope or dinged it up? Nikon is the scariest company to buy from IMO absolutely HORRID warranties. The vortex tracks PERFECT and repeatably ( my bro and friend have vipers w/o turrets that they use to dial long range with and know they track perfectly as well) Nikon.... cough.. doesnt they are maddening to sight in a gun with.. especially in the cold. I am in the process of buying a cheaper hunting rifle, one that i dont mind banging up. I will buy the Meopta meopro 6-18x50 when i save up the man fund a little more. the meopta's glass is brighter and more clear than both the nikon and the vortex. im sure it handles low light better than both as well. It appears brighter side by side. only looked through them and have never dialed with one so i have no idea on that aspect. Meopta is a great company though. |

Thanks for the input! I have now looked in the Meopta. What I really like is the great eye relief, its much better than Nikon monarch 3, sightron s2 big sky and those vortex I've looked in. I also like that its clear and sharp side to side. But it is a big scope! I might consider another scope on a lightweight rifle. I will mount the scope next week when im going on my vacation and compare it to my Zeiss Diavari in low light.
