I will have this mounted on a .243 for deer hunting under 200 yards or less. I would like to keep my rifle as light and maneuverable as possible, going on a smith&wesson 1700 bolt action rifle. Thanks for for advice.

ProStaff's to my eyes have way too much tunnel vision. I have a Weaver Classic 2-7x32 mounted on my Grandfather's .303 Brit. sporter and like it a lot. If it was my rifle I'd get the Weaver as long as your talking about the Classic model.

I recently picked up a Weaver 2-10x38 last fall. I also have a 1-3 Classic V and a 3-10x40 GS. All are good optics. The 1-3x is a great short-range/fast hunting optic.
You may want to consider that 2-10x for a wider mag range. I think the 2-7x is actually a 2.5-7x. |
