I'm thinking of a scope for my Ruger 77/22 sporter.  I was almost convinced to get a Weaver RV-7 for it, but Weaver has the 849507 which is a 3-9x40 in their 40/44 line with 50 yd parallax.  I know it is listed as a shotgun/muzzleloader scope.  It seems like it would make a fine scope for the application to me.  Does anyone have any insight on this scope?  Bandito

I can only say that I've been extremely pleased with the RV-7 on my Savage MkII BV. Don't know much about Weaver's 40/44 but I'd heard they're being discontinued.

Really, the scopes were new for 2009 and won awards from Field and Stream.  The best deals on scopes are from discontinued and last years models.  I got real good deals on my Intensity 3.8-12x44 and my Simmons WTC 6.5-20x50 that way.  I guess I should have waited before I ordered my 3-9x40 from competitor a couple of days ago.
