Now we'd all think a Browning (Made in Japan) high wall in 25-06 would have a 1 in 10 twist right? Well I tried some 115 TSXs with 52 gr of 4831sc. At 100 they shot into 3/4" but at 200 they were lucky to be in 6-9". Upon shooting some at 100 at hard coated photo paper it was clear they were tipping. So I called Ty at Barnes and he too was amazed but suggested I check the twist. So I got out my gold plated German felt plug cleaning system (Brownells and it is great) and did the twist test twice from the breech and twice from the muzzle. I kept doing it cause I was in disbelief!....... ONE IN 13"!!!!
Back to the bench with 100 TSXs, 100 Ballistic tips and 85 gr combined techs.
Same load (violated Barnes rule and only set back 20 thou). 3 TSXs in one hole, 3 BTs in 1/2" and three CTs in a 1" wide by 4" high group. (I have never had any luck with them in any caliber but they look neat!)
I should note that the 115 TSX is a flat base and is VERY long whereas all the others are boattails and have less bearing surface in the barrel.
Wonder what the boys in Nippon were thinking? Maybe just a varmint rifle shooting light bullets. Just goes to show you can't assume anything but it keeps the brain cells alive.

For quite a few years after Roy Weatherby brought out his .257 magnum it was with a 1-12 twist. I bought a Mauser actioned rifle with a 26"med-hvy bbl chambered in .25-06  built in the late 70s that had a 1-12.5 twist.  In the case of the Mauser it was to be used with light bullets for varminting. In RW's case I just don't know.
