does anyone here have one they can look at and tell me? We have an older S&B we bought in Germany a few years and the coatings are a deep blood red just wondering how the PMII scopes are done.

When you look at the coatings straight on, there is not supposed to be any color. That is more or less the whole idea about anti-reflective coatings.
If you look at them at an angle you can see some color, but that is largely irrelevant to the coatings' performance. ILya

What ILya said. My understanding is that whatever "color" you are seeing is the color of the light being reflected off the lense. I'm not referring to cheap coated lenses that are actually tinted with some kind of color commonly seen with cheap bino's for example.

well zeiss coatings seem to look more blue/purple, and the premier seems to look very green, my swarovski looks redish blue, the $5000 Takahashi Orthoscopic Apochromat (TOA130) I own has some wild looking coatings. The Takahashi FSQ I used to own had green coatings looking very similar to the Premier.
That's why I was asking about the S&B PMII, I wanted to see if they are using the same coatings as Premier. |

Can you post a pic of this scope? I'd like to see what yours looks like. I've never seen, nor heard of this scope before.

Disregard, Gappa. I just googled and saw that it's NOT a rifle scope.

If you are really interested, you can read the article from American Rifleman:
