On Saturday I went to a new range I discovered less then 15 miles from me. It is anice range with shooting benches and a 300m range. It also boasts a little coffee shop for burgers etc.
Whlst I was there (participating in a CHASA shoot for club points) I noticed White Wilma's big brother.
If you can remember I had the Rem barrel replaced by a Truvelo barrel. Truvelo being a local company making amongst others military sniper equipment.

The pics are of their custom built 338 Lapua. The owner had it topped with a Millet 8-25. He was shooting under 1/2 MOA out to 300m. Pretty impressive firearm.

The other pics are of the range set-up.

Enjoy!! Excuse quality...taken with cellphone....

Not too many. He was still talking about barrel break in etc. On the day he was certainly sending some rounds down range, approx 75 or so, with the help of two buddies taking turns.

I take it Millet is not so great???

You know Wrouter, As hard as it is for you to get firearms, your country has some nice rifle ranges. Here it is easer to get firearms but the ranges are few and very far between. I hope the people there never get so involved with Lawyers as they have in America. For their practice's creed to be to uphold the Constitution they sure spend a lot of time tearing it and the country apart.

Folks ain't got a sense of humor no more. They don't laugh they just get sore.

Need to follow the rules. Just hard to determine which set of rules to follow
Now the rules have changed again.

Looks like a great place, being close surely makes it even more attractive.

All these ranges are a legacy of better times. However the new firearm act has forced all of us to renew our active participation in clubs and shooting. The police has adopted a use it or loose it policy. This has swelled club membership, which is a good thing.

On the side though, the Black Gunowners Ass has formally sued the South African Police for 3.4 billion rand for not bringing into proper effect the new firearms act. The complaint stems from some members waiting now for 3-5 years and there lic applications has still not been processed.
We all wait the outcome of this with great anticipation.
We as South African hunters have a similiar court case. The case has been suspended, with the police seeking an out-of -court settlement with us.

I don't think their ranges are so hot. Not one old propane bottle or junked car to shoot at, not even an anvil or a bowling pin.Bucky
Do any of the ranges have gun shops on site with gear, guns ot targets?

This range shown here has in fact a few gun related stuff on sale. They have a gundealers lic and stock ammo, reloading stuff, gunbags, targets and cleaning stuff etc.
Most ranges however do not have this due to breaking and entry and theft issues.

This new range sounds alot like the range I belong to; 300yds, gunshop, and snack bar.
Burglary isn't a problem there, you have to drive past the owner's house to get to the range, one way in and out.

Only knew of one guy who had one.  He won a Browning .300 WSM w/a Millet on it.  First time he shot it the scope hit him in the face and the ocular lens fell out.  He sold the rifle.

The shoot was a bit tame/lame. Had to shoot from 50m standing, 100m sitting and 200m lying down or sitting. All with no time limits. White Wilma liked that and I shot a full score.
